 The dark web is a part of the internet that requiresspecialized software to access. This includes the Tor browser and the InvisibleInternet Project (I2P) network. Tor protects your computer’s IP address whenbrowsing websites and I2P creates a virtual private network (VPN) to allow youto surf the internet without revealing your location.While a number of legitimate uses exist for the darkweb, it is also used by criminals to sell illicit goods andservices. These range from recreational and prescription drugs to stolenpersonal information, weapons, and hacking services. Some sites even offer paidassassinations. Many of these illegal marketplaces accept Bitcoin and othercryptocurrencies.
